Education

The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center realizes the importance of education both within schools and beyond school walls. Whether it’s learning a new skill, a new language, a computer program, or learning to love knowledge and applying it to everyday living, the Kroc Center is a campus of opportunity that will provide direction and support to enable youth and families to develop skills specifically in the multi-faceted areas of education.

In addition, we are partnering with Omaha’s great education community to provide a curriculum that will enhance our members’ potential through collaborative, interactive and creative programming. Our partners include Metropolitan Community College, University of Nebraska, Omaha, south Omaha Public Schools, and others.

Featured Education Activities

After School Program

Drop-in Activity - no registration required!
Ages: 8-12
Weekdays 3:30pm to 6pm (except during OPS breaks)
Member: FREE, Non-member: $5 (includes access to the facility: computer lab, game room, gym & pool).   

Children 8-12 years old may come to the Kroc Center right after school until 6pm for the After School Program, which provides tutoring, help with homework and some structured programming such as art, and other interactive activities.

Roadmap to Success 

Monday, 9am-Noon - Create Cover Letter, Resume, Business Cards
Tuesday, 10am-Noon - Dress for Success Fashion Show and Advice
Wednesday 9am-Noon - Mock Interviews with Kroc Center Staff
Thursday, 9am-Noon - Mini Job Fair with Omaha recruiters
March 18-21
Members/Non-member: Free

Open Computer Lab
The Kroc Center's state-of-the-art computer lab may be used for academic work, checking emails, playing computer games or surfing the internet. The lab is open for walk-in use during regular lab hours. Individuals 8 and older may use the lab without being accompanied by an adult. Printing services are available for a small fee. See page 2 of the Drop-In Schedule for Computer Lab Hours.
