| Wash Your Blues Away |
|
If you're tired of all the snow and freezing cold, then escape to the Aquatics Center. Whether you're getting your feet wet for the first time or you're a veteran swimmer, a dip in one of our pools is the perfect remedy to wash away winter’s blues. Burn off excess energy (and calories!) with a few laps in the Competition Pool or simply let your cares float away while lounging in the Recreation Pool's lazy stream. Finish your fun with a splish, splash spin down our water slide… a thrill for kids of all ages!
The Aquatics Center includes an arsenal of tools to keep winter at bay: a heated zero-depth-entry pool, lazy stream, two water slides and competition pool. Pool access is included in membership. Non-members may enjoy the pool with the purchase of a $5 guest pass, which also includes access to other areas of the facility.
The Kroc Center Aquatics team is always looking for ways to support a fun, interactive environment. This month our featured Aquatics Event is “Float & Flicks,” your chance to catch a movie on the big screen while floating on the water. Don't miss it - Monday, March 22 at 1pm (during OPS Spring Break.)
Learning and fun go hand in hand at the Kroc Aquatics Center. Swimming Lessons are offered for all age groups and skill levels. The cost of our introductory, Level I, swim course is $40/members or $55/non-members and can be paid for at the Kroc Center Welcome Desk. This includes eight classes of instruction on fundamental water skills with Red Cross certified instructors. All of our lessons are designed to develop progressive swimming skills with a strong emphasis on learning through fun and enjoyment.
Enrollment for March and April lessons is now open but places are limited and available on a first come first served basis. Book now to avoid disappointment. Call 905-3590 for more information.

| New Activities Added |
|

No doubt about it. This has been one of the longest, coldest winters in decades. Icy sidewalks make it tough to get outside and too often we find ourselves cooped up at home. Now is a great time to break the monotony and explore the new opportunities that await you at The Salvation Army Kroc Center. From line dancing to piano instruction and Wii games, we are continually adding new activities to meet the growing needs of our more than 2300 members.
Our Zumba® drop-in classes have proven extremely popular and in response to growing demand, we have added several more times and dates, including Monday mornings at 9:30am and Monday/Wednesday evenings at 7:15pm. We also plan to add Youth Zumba® classes this Summer – if interested, please call 905-3580 to let us know as class schedules will be based on demand.
If you are seeking a new way to “kick” the winter blahs we’ve got more than one option. Kick Aquatics, a new drop-in activity, began earlier this month. A complete body workout, this evening class will have you kicking your way through a heart pumping 45 minute workout. On Sunday, March 28th a FREE Country Kicker Dance workshop will be given at 2pm in the Joyce Mammel Fellowship Hall. This new program uses country line dance and music to get your heart rate jumping and feet moving! You don't need previous experience, just a desire to have fun and get fit. Check our website for more details and class schedules, coming soon.
Or do you prefer to walk away the winter blues? Put one foot in front of the other and you’ll soon be on your way to a great cardiovascular workout that reduces cholesterol, builds muscle and burns fat. Our new Walking Program is designed to help you maximize the benefits of walking by assisting with goal-setting and identifying routes within the Kroc Center to fit your specific workout needs. With ample natural light to bask in and a 122,000 square foot facility, you might even hear the melodic sounds of Spring bouncing around the corner as you reach full stride… or could that be the rhythms of our African Drumming class down the hall? Ask our Fitness staff about adding this program to your fitness regiment today.
Kids are an important part of the Kroc Center Community and as such we are working hard to offer a youth-oriented curriculum that balances learning, fitness and fun. Several new youth and teen activities have been added during the 4 to 7 pm time slot. On Mondays and Wednesdays, join our “Kroc in the House” class that begins at 4:15pm. Perfect for teens, this drop-in class provides a sampling of cardio activities provided here at the Kroc Center. On any given day this class may include kickboxing, step aerobics, light weights, jump ropes, balls or mat workouts. For teens wanting the total experience, join us!
Many other exciting activities are in the works, such as jewelry making and new computer classes. Thanks to member input, we continue to tweak our program offerings to meet your needs. Let us know what activities you are interested in by emailing us at omaha_kroc@usc.salvationarmy.org.
